In between my usual vocations I like to try and keep up with whats going on with the Casino's in Louisiana. Particularly when it comes to the new casino Sugar Cane Bay. For those of you who don't know, Sugar Cane Bay is going to be the sister casino located right next to L' Auberge Du Lac (which dominates at over 50% of market share). Why its important to us TX Poker Players is because it will have a poker room! If Sugar Cane Bay can meet the same quality of a property as L'DL then hold your horses... In February: Pinnacle Entertainment got a 3 month extension on Sugar Cane Bay which mandates that the completion date is July 30, 2010. Basically a little over 1 year from now. In April: L’Auberge du Lac Casino Resort along with 2 other partners announce a $50,000 study which includes funding for a nearby airport. |

Its passed the HOUSE Committee will go up for a vote in the Texas House of Reps... Not to sure when but this is a very significant step. It will allow communities to vote whether or not they want poker rooms! |

AUSTIN — Texas gambling interests have grandiose visions for turning the Lone Star State into a gamer's paradise, and when the pitch for slot machines, casinos and more racetrack betting makes its way through the Legislature, the man likely to hold the power in the House will have more than a passing interest. Joe Straus, the San Antonio Republican who's likely to become the next House speaker, comes from a family intimately entwined in Texas horse racing — a family that would gain financially from any legislation easing the restrictions on racetrack betting.
